Inside the Formula™ — Ingredient Glossary

Every ingredient earns its place

Inside the Formula™

The infused oils — the heart of every formula

Calendula

A golden marigold flower we steep slowly into carrier oil, the old-fashioned way. It's the signature botanical of the whole LBBL line — gentle, warm, and the reason our jars glow.

Turmeric root

The bright golden root, infused into oil rather than powdered in. It gives our golden formulas their color and earthy warmth. Fair warning: that color is real — it can stain light fabrics.

Sunflower oil

The carrier oil that holds our infusions. Light, steady, and skin-friendly — a quiet workhorse that lets the botanicals do the talking.

The butters & waxes — the body of the jar

Raw shea butter

A rich butter from the shea tree nut. It's what makes our whips feel like whips — thick, cushioning, and deeply moisturizing where skin feels dry.

Mango seed butter

Pressed from the mango pit — firmer than shea, with a silkier finish. We use it where a balm needs structure without wax drag.

Coconut oil

Melts the moment it touches skin. It helps our butters glide and keeps moisture where you put it.

Beeswax

Real wax from real bees. It holds a balm's shape in the jar and helps it sit on the skin as a soft, sealed-in-feeling layer instead of soaking away instantly.

The supporting oils

Jojoba oil

Technically a liquid wax from a desert shrub — and remarkably similar to the oil your own skin makes. That's why it absorbs so easily and never feels like a greasy coat.

Squalane

An ultra-light, plant-derived oil that your skin recognizes. It's the glide in our Recovery Balm — silky, fast-settling, no residue.

Tamanu oil

A deep-green oil from a Pacific island tree nut, traditionally prized for stressed-feeling skin days. Rich, earthy, and used sparingly on purpose.

Black seed oil

Pressed from Nigella sativa seeds — a small, peppery seed with a long history in home care. We include it for skin that feels like it's been through a lot.

Rosehip oil

From the fruit left after a rose blooms. A light, comforting oil that helps skin look smooth and cared for.

Oat oil

Yes, from oats — the same grain in your kitchen. Famously gentle, chosen for skin that prefers to be soothed, not challenged.

Meadowfoam oil

From a white wildflower that looks like sea foam in bloom. Its special talent is staying fresh — it helps the whole formula resist going off, naturally.

The vitamins

Vitamin E (tocopherol)

A classic skincare vitamin that also helps protect the oils in the jar from oxidizing. It keeps the formula stable and the finish smooth.

Vitamin D3 oil

The sunshine vitamin, in oil form, blended in at small amounts as part of our golden formulas. It rounds out the blend — simple as that.

The botanicals & essential oils — the scent and the calm

Lavender

The familiar purple flower. A small amount gives our whips their calm, clean scent — nothing synthetic, nothing loud.

Tea tree

A crisp, green-smelling oil from an Australian tree. It balances the softer florals so the scent finishes clean.

Chamomile

The same gentle flower as the bedtime tea. It brings a soft, honeyed calm to the Golden Root balm's scent.

Sandalwood

A warm, woody note that grounds the golden balm — quiet, steady, and never perfumey.

Rose

The soft floral heart of our Floral Calm balm. Classic for a reason.

Ylang ylang

A sweet tropical flower that rounds the floral blend so it feels warm instead of sharp.

Geranium

A green, slightly rosy note that keeps the floral blend from becoming heavy.

Myrrh

An ancient tree resin with a soft, grounding depth. The finishing note in the Floral Calm blend.

The minerals — the polish step

Pure sugar

Fine sugar crystals that smooth away buildup, then dissolve in water — so the polish never scratches more than it should.

Dead Sea salt

Mineral-rich salt from the famous sea. Slightly coarser than sugar, it gives the polish its working texture.
